Amateur Radio Podcasts

As we all sit in our homes looking for things to do to pass the time, our radios have probably been the go to device as of late. Yes, we chase some DX from time to time, or for some it is a daily adventure when the bands are playing nicely.

For myself it has been, at times, pulling out projects that have been put on hold, listening to podcasts, watching YouTube videos or getting things situated in hopes that we will get to have Field Day post the “Zombie Apocalypse” that is the COVID-19 outbreak.

I wanted to take a minute to talk about a podcast that has hit my radar recently. These podcasts are from Hams that are sharing their personal knowledge or have guests on the show to share experiences they have had with a larger audience. Some are just information on local events and news.

The most recent podcast I have started listening to is the AB4WS Radio Show from Jack Prindle. I learned of this short, 5-10 minute informational broadcast from a recent YouTube video from the LCARA YouTube channel. Funny how that happens huh!?

AB4WS lives near Cincinnati in Big Bone, Ky and does a weekly radio show for events as well as relays information to the Greater Cincinnati area.

Sure the information in his weekly show may not encompass what is going on area SouthWest Indiana but there are times when looking outside your own 4 walls or in this case State, you find some information that just might work for you or a project you are working on in the shack.

So I ask this of everyone, send KC9CLO and I a list of what you listen to. I would like to put together a page for the site of Podcasts or YouTube Channels that spark interest or if nothing else, shares Amateur Radio with others.

And don’t forget about 146.450MHz where KB9DOI has many different news casts and podcasts playing weekly. Check it out.

Until next time
