About Us

“The Ohio Valley Amateur Radio Club mission is to: Educate and train new amateur radio operators and to maintain a well-tuned disaster team. … Provide educational services and demonstrations to local community organizations such as the Boy Scouts,  Red Cross, Emergency Management Agencies, and the general public. Conduct public demonstrations and educational events to better acquaint the public to the services that Amateur Radio can provide.  These actions will be achieved through the club evolving with the technologies developed through Amateur Radio currently and in the future.”

The Ohio Valley Amateur Radio Club is located in Warrick County Indiana in the Evansville, In metro. The club was organized in 2016 and operates as a non-profit organization. The club meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. The meetings are held at the Kaiser clubhouse and begin at 6:00 pm and generally finish by 9:00 pm.

During the meetings the focus is placed on helping each other to succeed in the Amateur Radio operations. This is possible by utilizing the diversity that each operator brings to

the organization. The club has members that excel in computers, electrical, wireless networking, and mechanical systems just to name a few.

The Ohio Valley Amateur Radio club participates in multiple events throughout the year. These events are to test the equipment and familiarize the operators with how to best utilize their radio systems. The events prepare the operators for emergency communications if the need should arise. While participating in the events an effort is made to be visible in public areas and make people familiar with what Amateur Radio is and it’s importance in the event of an emergency.

The following is a listing of the events that the club participates in…

  • Winter Field Day One day event 4th Saturday in January
  • Indiana QSO Party One day event 1st Saturday in May
  • Summer Field Day 2 day event 4th Saturday and Sunday in July
  • Parks on the Air activation through out the year

Participation with ARES/RACES and Warrick County Indiana EMA at Warrick County 4H fair as W4H Special Event call sign (when available).
